Land clearing and site prep
Most projects on raw land start here. We take a brushy, overgrown or wooded piece of property and turn the part you need into usable ground, then prep it for the next stage, whether that is a driveway, a garden or a foundation.
What clearing involves
Clearing is more than knocking down brush. We take out vegetation, stumps and root systems, sort what can stay on site from what has to go, and leave a surface you can actually work with. On forested lots we clear selectively, keeping the trees that give the property its character and taking the ones in the way.
Every job is different. A garden site might need a light touch over a small area. A homesite needs full grubbing, because roots left in the ground rot and settle under whatever you build on top of them.
Site prep and foundation prep
Once the ground is open we shape it: rough grade, building pad, cut and fill to get workable levels. If a foundation is coming, we dig to the footprint and depths your builder or engineer specifies and leave grades they can form on.
Clearing and grading rules vary by county, and sites near water, wetlands or steep slopes can need permits before work starts. We flag that during the site visit so there are no surprises later.
Why compact machines
We run compact excavators because most of our work is on tight, treed lots where a full size machine causes more damage than it is worth. A compact machine slips between trees, works close to structures and leaves far less ground to repair when the job is done.
